Seed

Seed - Ania Ahlborn A brilliant dark disturbing story. Originally self-published.

Antarctica

Antarctica - Kim Stanley Robinson An interesting history and vision of the future of the ice continent.

A Memory of Light

A Memory of Light - Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson This was a great conclusion to the journey, yes there are some issues but considering the circumstances they are excusable.

I won't go into the story except to say all the loose ends are tied off and you find out what happens to all the characters you have met on this epic journey.

Cloud Atlas

Cloud Atlas - David Mitchell Just finished reading this again ahead of the movie, it is better for the second reading. I still found it abit slow going at the beginning but worth perservering with. A brilliant collection of interwoven stories, connected through time.

House of Suns

House of Suns - Alastair Reynolds A fantastic story with wonderful characters woven together across millions of years and civilizations.

The Cult of LEGO

The Cult of LEGO - John Baichtal, Joe Meno A nice history of Lego and all the different uses for Lego, from scale models to autism therapy.

Un Lun Dun

Un Lun Dun - China Miéville Another wonderful tale full of great characters in an imaginative world of discarded unbrellas, flying buses, and smog.

7th Sigma

7th Sigma - Steven Gould This is a fun read, though it reads more as a collection of interconnected short stories about the main character. I would like to see him explore the new world he has imagined in further stories.

Calling Mr. King

Calling Mr. King - Ronald De Feo A dark humourous midlife crisis story. A well written look at a man's descent from professional hitman to who he thinks he could be, if only they would leave him in peace.

11/22/63

11/22/63 - Stephen King A fantastic story from a brilliant storyteller. I couldn't put it down, the story just draws you into the ago.

Embassytown

Embassytown - China Miéville One of his best books yet. A fascinating look at how langauge is interpreted.

Full Dark, No Stars

Full Dark, No Stars - Stephen King A dark but great collections of stories full of tension and horror.

English Passengers

English Passengers - Matthew Kneale A fantastic story and a great portrait of the unfortunate colonization of Tasmania.

American Vampire, Vol. 1

American Vampire #1 - Stephen King, Scott Snyder, Rafael Albuquerque The first comic written by stephen king, and it is as well written as his novels.

Against All Things Ending (The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant #3)

Against All Things Ending (The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant #3) - Stephen R. Donaldson Another wonderful book in the continuing saga of Thomas Covenant. Its amazing to think that this series has been going so long. In this book the end is in sight at last, things are beginning to be resolved. If you have enjoyed the other books in the series you will certainly enjoy these.

The Windup Girl

The Windup Girl - Paolo Bacigalupi Fantastic book, a wonderfully imagined and detailed view of the future. While it is a grim future of generippers and disease, it is nevertheless a very well written story of survival and bargains, bribery, corruption and when to stand up for your views or backdown. I look forward to reading his next story.
